Dental Checkups in Sunrise and Oakland Park, FL

Dr. Alarcon

Why do you need frequent dental checkups?

The main reason you need frequent dental checkups is that we want to detect or diagnose problems before they become too serious. The best way to get these problems under control while they are still very small is by seeing you regularly throughout the year.

Normally, we recommend checkups every six months to make sure everything is going fine, you're healthy, and we're taking good care of you.

How often should patients get dental checkups?

Patients should get dental checkups every six months. If you're someone with a history of having a lot of dental issues, we may want to see you more often, but as a general rule, at Wiser Smiles, we believe six months is the perfect interval.

Can dental checkups prevent oral health issues?

Yes. We want to make sure we take a few dental X-rays, and we want to check your gums, your teeth, and everything in general. We want to catch everything quickly and early.

What is included in a dental checkup at Wiser Smiles in Sunrise?

This is a very easy process. You come into the office, and we take a few dental X-rays. Sometimes we take a few pictures. Then I personally take a look at everything and make sure everything is the way it should be. You're also going to have a teeth cleaning, and you'll be all set.

What is a dentist looking for at a regular dental checkup?

Normally, we want to make sure that, first, whatever work you have is holding up fine and is in good condition. Second, we want to make sure there's nothing new going on, like cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, or anything else that might need some type of attention.

How long does a normal dental checkup take?

It normally takes about half an hour, I would say. Once you are in the office, the dental X-rays are pretty quick. Then we see you, and if you have any questions, we take the time to answer every question you might have. It should take about 20 to 30 minutes.

Does the dental checkup hurt?

Not at all. They are very easy. We have great technology and a great team in place at Wiser Smiles, so everything should be nice and smooth. It doesn't hurt at all.

What is the best way to keep up with your next dental checkup?

Once you finish your last appointment, make sure you schedule your next dental checkup with us at Wiser Smiles. If not, we're going to give you a call and make sure you remember, because it's very important.
